Norm Wright is a retired minister in the Greater Ohio District of the Wesleyan Church. Rev. Wright has been experiencing multiple health concerns in recent months. The following message was received from his wife Jan on April 1st, 2010:
Hello Everyone,
I'm thrilled to say there has been great progress in Norm's condition today. His appetite is beginning to return. He began therapy this morning, and has been doing it off and on all day long!! His left leg, slightly weakened by this stroke, is doing very well, in fact he went up and down the stairs quicker than the therapist this morning. The report from yesterday's CAT scan shows he did indeed have a stroke sometime during or immediately after surgery, and there is still slight swelling in one spot on the brain.
His arm is a little different story, as it will take alot to bring it back.... however, he is moving the fingers better, they have been clenched in a fist. He pulls them out with his right hand, and stretches them. He can move his arm if he concentrates real hard, to the middle of his chest (from hanging down by his side). These little improvements are such huge steps for us. He has a very positive mental attitude also, and the Dr. says if all goes well, he may get home on Saturday and continue with home health therapy 3 times a week.
We have about 10 days left to work this arm and hand to wellness, as the Dr. said the first 2 weeks are critical. In most cases, if it doesn't return to normal within that time, it doesn't return. So our prayer request would be....pray for the therapy on Norm's left arm and hand to bring new life and energy into this limb.
Where would we be without our friends and prayer partners? It's so amazing to have people all over the US and Canada who care enough to pray - in fact we received an email through a friend that said...tell Norm people in Colorado are praying; and tell Norm our Missionaries in Macedonia are praying, our Greater Ohio District of the Wesleyan Church (our fellow Ministers) are praying, and our home church Community Wesleyan is praying; our family from Canada is praying and sharing our request with others. Only the Family of God has this special connection! We are so blessed to be loved and cared for by those of like precious faith. May the good Lord bless you a hundred fold for caring and praying. Allow us to return the favor when you have a need such as this!
Love and blessings, Jan
